Standard #8: Assessment

“The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.”

It is important that teachers use multiple assessment strategies to better evaluate the students.  Not all children are great test takers, so by using alternative strategies to assess students is vital to the growth and development of the students.  Giving the students choices, freedom and flexibility to show off and to demonstrate what they know is important for both the teacher and the student.
