Standard #9: Reflection and Professional Development

The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of her/his choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.”

Self reflection is important to professionalism and growth. It is important for teachers to “keep track of” what they have done and consider how it has worked or if they have fallen short in any areas.  This is important because every child should be challenged to their fullest potential. Looking for new ways to enhance lesson plans and being open to new ideas are all important components of professional growth.
